Data

The age of AI is here. Our morning news feed is curated by it. During our virtual meetings, it is used to equalize sound so everyone can be heard clearly. In the evenings, it recommends what shows & movies we should watch. AI is not some far off, esoteric force. It’s already here.

The fuel for this age of AI is data. The companies with the most data have the best trained AI. Companies that are rooted in data, rather than flighty anecdotes and opinions, find success much easier than those who simply rely on the latter.

Amazon Alexa

Just like the last age of mobile and web technologies, smart speakers (ex. Amazon Alexa) provide an abundance of data.

Musicians who distribute their music on Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud, etc. get lots of data to users listening habits on web and mobile. However, if a musician wants to examine, and act upon their listeners data from smart speakers, there’s only one place to look.

Alexa4Musicians is the only platform in the world for musicians to put their voice on Amazon Alexa 100% free. We provide musicians with fine-tuned data so they can increase their listeners and earn more money from their music.

Criteria

Each week, we look at the data from Alexa4Musicians to see which musicians are at the top of the world. The data is examined from the past 7 days only. These are not the top musicians of all time. These are the top musicians from the past 7 days. We examined the total number of sessions: the total number of times a listener or fan talked to the musician on Amazon Alexa, to determine who the top three are each week. Without further ado, here’s the top three musicians for the past seven days on Alexa4Musicians.

#1 — TMG

TMG Is the newest musician on Alexa4Musicians. Despite their young status, this Columbus based duo has risen to the top to become number one for the past week, and #3 overall. What’s most surprising about these hip hop brothers is the reaction from those closest to them. Although they are #1 this week, they’ve messaged me multiple times on Instagram to let me know their friends have had trouble finding them on Amazon Alexa. This hits on a long standing issue on Amazon Alexa: discoverability is challenging. Although close friends of TMG have had trouble finding their experience on Amazon Alexa, the rest of the world has had no trouble pushing this group to the top of the list for the week.

#2 — it’s (i)

It’s (i) is always at the top of the list. They were an early adopter of Amazon Alexa, and they’ve seen the ROI from their early investment. Also a Columbus based duo, it’s (i) prioritizes spirituality and mindfulness in their music creation. You’ll often see their lead singer, Unknown, doing headstands or lighting sage on stage. It’s (i)’s latest project, EGO II, is now available on all streaming platforms.

#3 — Spirit of the Bear

Spirit of the Bear is the only 4+ person band in the entire world on Amazon Alexa. They’re also an early adopter of Amazon Alexa. They were one of the first 10 bands in the world to put themselves on Amazon Alexa. Their latest release, Opaque, is now available on all streaming platforms.

As you can see from the other top 3, the early adopters have the biggest return on their investment. The earlier you adopt a new technology, the higher likelihood that you will reap the biggest payout.

Each week we look at the data to see who the top three musicians in the world are on Alexa4Musicians.
